When the Universe Listens, Ride That Bull

Do you believe in coincidences?
Last week, I sort of whined about how overwhelmed I felt. I appreciate all the kind words you gave me. I’m glad I’m not alone in my overwhelm. I wanted to share how I felt because it may seem like I do it all, but I really don’t can’t. (Though I did manage to clean almost every dirty dish, pot/pan, and utensils AND wipe down my kitchen counter this weekend. It took a while.) Sometimes I just want to curl up in bed and read a trashy book until I fall asleep.
Wait, this is supposed to be a happier post.
At the beginning of the year, as I worked on my Goddess Guidebook, I filled out the 100 Things I Want to Do in 2012. Then I chose ASK as my word for the year. My 100 things list stopped at #91 because I couldn’t think of the last 9 things.
It doesn’t matter that I have 9 empty slots on my list. The other 91 were percolating in my heart since January. I’ve crossed quite a few things off my list, most of them without actively pursuing it:
#4. Speak at a conference. Twice (Evo & 3AF) and one more time later this month.
#9. Meet a favorite author. Justin Cronin is the nicest guy! Now if I could get my hands on a galley of The Twelve. Random House, are you reading this? Please?
#21 See a Broadway show. Porgy & Bess. Broadway shows I saw on tour: Beauty & the Beast and Rock of Ages
#54 Teach a cooking class. It was so much fun! I want to teach another class
#70 See Asian-American exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery. It only too me half the year to finally make it there and have time to actually view the artwork.
I’ve crossed plenty more off my list, which I’m going keep private (sorry!).
My point is that writing down your goals is very important, even if it’s just visiting a museum. Part of achieving what you want is writing it down (aka putting it out in the universe) and most of it is working for it. By asking, by doing. It’s not going to just drop into my lap. Sometimes it takes longer than I want for it, whatever it is, to happen.
Back to coincidences. I don’t think anything is truly a coincidence. Things happen for a reason. Some exciting things are in the works right now, and I feel giddy with excitement. I almost can’t believe how everything worked out. Even during moments of overwhelm (and a bit of freaking out), the universe is listening. I need to keep my mind and heart open. I have to recognize when the universe is talking to me so I don’t miss my opportunity opportunities.
Because I still have 58 more items to mark off my list.
Make that 59. I’ve added #92 Ride a mechanical bull.
Who wants to join me for a ride?
What did you recently cross anything off your list?
