SoFabCon Tech Playground Was My Candy Store

I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 weeks since I attended SoFabCon. I think I’ve finally recovered from the conference and my trip to San Francisco with PBS Kids. Whew!  Now I can sit and share the cool tech I discovered in the Tech Playground suite at SoFabCon. I was as happy there as a kid in a candy store. Which might explain why I forgot to take a ton of photos. I was to busy playing with the tech goodies.

Burg Watch Collage

My favorite gadget in the suite was Burg Smart Watch. It’s a line of European smart watches making its United States debut very soon. Je gave me the inside scoop on these stylishing watches. With a much lower price point than the Samsung Gear 2 smart watch, Burg Watches will be more budget friendly. While the watch doesn’t have the plethora of functions that the Gear 2 does, most of us won’t use half of those functions.

Burg Watches take SIM cards

Each Burg Watch comes with a SIM card with 100 minutes for talk and texting. No smartphone needed!

Burg Watches offers the most important ones. Thanks to its Bluetooth capability, you can make phone calls right on the watch. You can also check text messages, listen to music, even use it as a watch (gasp!). It also comes with a pedometer to count your steps. Now for the best part. Each watch also comes with a sim card, so you can make calls and text directly from your watch without connecting it to your smartphone. Burg Watch offers interchangeable bands and face plate for customization. Finally, a smart watch that comes in stylish colors! I’ve been told that Burg Smart Watches will be coming to a retailer near you as soon as this summer. Keep an eye out for it! I hope to get one to review for you, so stay tuned.

Zagg Invisible Shield Screen Protector

I’ve heard plenty of good things about Zagg Invisible Shield screen protectors, but the other brands I’ve purchased are so hard to get onto my phone! Zagg shields is made of military grade silicone and comes with a lifetime guarantee. Meaning, you’ll probably replace your phone before needing a new shield. To see how easy it is to apply a Zagg Screen Shield, check out Sara applying one to my Samsung Galaxy S4:

Here’s a tip I learned from the Zagg representative that those pesky bubbles that I can never squeegee out from under the shield will go away after a few days, thanks to their application process. Those bubbles make me crazy, but sure enough, my screen no long has bubbles. Zagg Invisible Shield is available for most mobile devices.

Monster Mobile PowerCard Portable Battery

Another highlight for me was the Monster Mobile PowerCard Portable Battery. It’s about the size of credit card, just a little thicker. That means you can keep it right in your wallet or purse. It’s light enough and won’t weigh you down. I use my smartphone quite a bit throughout the day and by mid-afternoon it needs a recharge. This size is good for everyday use and will charge your phone quickly. If you need a little more juice, there’s a slightly larger version. The Monster Mobile PowerCard Portable Battery retails for $39.95 but I found it on Amazon for around $26. It also comes in various colors, which I personally love.

There were plenty more cool items in the SoFabCon Tech Playground, but those were some of my favorites. I’m hoping to be able to review more of the items so I can give you a detailed look!
