How Will I Survive Without My Smartphone?

Old Phone

My well loved cellphone died Saturday night. Luckily it lasted long enough for the navigation to direct me out of Baltimore Inner Harbor where I did an oh so fun bachelorette party! At first I thought it was just a battery issue, so I plugged it overnight and hoped for the best.

Next day it still wouldn’t turn on, so I had to take it to the Sprint store. My poor poor phone. Turns out the technicians couldn’t fix it on-site, so I’ll be getting a replacement phone late Tuesday.

So almost 3 days without a phone. I wouldn’t be whiny so much if I had a landline. I have realized how dependent I am on my smartphone.

First of all, I couldn’t return any phone calls I promised to my clients. Not good. Thankfully most of them check their emails often. I do have a couple that don’t. I guess I could call them from hubby’s cell but that doesn’t seem very professional. Most of my phone appointments have been rescheduled. Still, it puts a damper on the business. I’m all about email, but nothing feels more personal than a phone call. At least I can check my voicemail from his phone.

Second, I miss checking my twitter stream, you know like every 30 minutes. I’m ok with this though. I know I’m on Twitter way too much. Same with checking my email while I’m out.

Third, I miss checking in on Foursquare. I have a love-hate relationship with it, but I love checking into places I go to with hopes I might become mayor one day. AND I lost my mayorship to my local Target. Again!

Last, I miss reading on my Kindle app while I’m nursing Jaxson in bed. We lay down together for naps and bedtime. In my sleep deprived state, I would fall asleep in less than 5 minutes. However if I’m reading, it keeps awake so I can actually get up once he falls asleep. Plus I can read and turn pages with only one hand, something I can’t do with a real book I know I should sleep but that’s when I actually have time to eat breakfast or put in load of laundry. Oh yea, and hang out with Sophia. You know, important stuff.

I’m sure not having my phone for 3 days will make appreciate unwired life a little bit more.

I hope.
