Ode to My Smartphone

I’ve had my Samsung Moment Android phone for almost a month now. I’ve fought getting a smartphone for a long time.

Now I’m so happy I have it. I know I can live without it but it comes in so handy. Like when we lost power this weekend due to the crazy thunderstorms. I was able to tweet with friends, text and figure out if the power to our neighborhood was restored yet. We stayed at my sister who is somewhat of a Luddite so she had no internet access. Luckily our power was restored rather quickly, unlike some of my other friends, like Stimey.

Other reasons I love my smartphone:

  • I can read ebooks. I can read a book in one hand while I’m nursing the baby in bed, thanks to my free Kindle app. It syncs with my PC Kindle so wherever I stop on my phone, it remembers when I pull up the book on my computer
  • Finding the newest Slurpees. We were hot and sweaty after rummaging in the basement of our local Friends of the Library store. All that hard work earned us some Slurpees, but we weren’t sure where the nearest 7-Eleven was, so my Google Maps app found it AND gave us directions to it.
  • It keeps Sophia entertained while I’m in line at the bank. I downloaded a new game while in line and it kept her from running around touching everything at the bank.

I know my phone can do a lot more. I’m still figuring it all out.

Now if I only I can stop hanging up on hubby with my face! (It has a touchscreen).

I don’t have a cell phone fairy so I bought my own phone. All links are Amazon affiliate links, but the Kindle apps are free. You can also find lots of free Kindle books there too.
