Grab bags are my catnip. I love the mystery and anticipation. So when ModCloth offered grab bags (aka Stylish Surprise) a few weeks ago, I nabbed 2 dresses for $20 each. That’s a steal considering most of their dresses go for $60 and up.
I tried a quick Google search for plus size Stylish Surprise dresses, but didn’t find too many. So I figured I’d show you what came in my box. Their grab bags are a way to get rid of old inventory so it really is a gamble. I couldn’t find these two on the website as they’re probably discontinued.
First up was this blue and yellow print Luck Be a Lady Dress. I buy a ton of printed dresses, as I find most plus size dresses have big scaled, loud prints. Another worry was that printed dresses from ModCloth tend to look like Maria van Trapp made them out. You know, out of curtains?
The Daffodil print isn’t one I would buy, but it works. I’m a big fan of the fit and flare silhouette and this one nailed it. I added a silver belt I bought from Target a while back and paired it with cream flats. I think silver flats would look fantastic with this dress. And bonus, the dress has hidden hip pockets!
I’m very pleased with the Luck Be A Lady Dress. I can wear it conferences or work-related events. The daffodil print is no longer available but you can still buy Luck Be A Lady in a variety of colors.
Next up is this summery, strappy number. Sorry for the dark photo as I forgot to take photos when the light was still good. I couldn’t find the name of this dress, so if you know, please tell me. It’s definitely not a dress I would purchase. It’s a little long and flowery for my taste.
Having said that, it’s a perfect for summer. The dress is fully lined and fun to wear. I got a ton of compliments on it. Now that the weather is cooler, I’ll add a denim jacket or a cardigan. The belt is from Target.
I’m very happy with my ModCloth Stylish Surprise dresses and will buy it again in a heartbeat.
