There was so much to talk about for Blogger Bash that I needed to break it up in two parts! Here is part 2 of my Blogger Bash NYC highlights.
Truly the main highlight was the Bloganthropy Awards. A few days before Blogger Bash, my friend and founder of Debbie Bookstaber asked me to accept an award on behalf of the #WeNeedDiverseBooks team. Of course I said yes! I’ve been involved in the grassroots movement since the beginning and I’m proud to tell others about it!
I’m thrilled that #WeNeedDiverseBooks was honored as a finalist for the 2014 Bloganthropy Award. The other women are doing amazing work with the social causes they are most passionate about. Congrats to everyone!
Saturday breakfast was sponsored by the new Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham video game. We got a sneak peek at the game. The graphics are fantastic. I have a feeling that my husband will enjoy this game as much (if not more than) as the kids will. It releases in November and will be available on many different platforms: Wii U, Xbox One, Playstation, Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita.
Johnny Rockets sponsored our lunch with hearty sandwiches and salad–and milkshakes! What amazed me was Cynthia, the ketchup artist. Yes, ketchup as a painting medium. Look at this ketchup art of the Statue of Liberty!
Later that evening was the KidzVuz Back to School bash. I loved seeing all the kids run trying new tech, playing games, and picking out school supplies. If my kids had been there, they would have had a blast! I didn’t hit every table because it was so packed, but I’m glad I visited Kids’ Night on Broadway. They offer family deals to Broadway and Broadway tours all over the country. My former theatre geek self loves this. I hope there’s a DC area event on the list soon!
Both kids have been using their Lands’ End backpacks for a couple of years now (which I personally purchased). Except for the dirt and food crumbs, the backpacks have held up impressively well. Sophia is rough on her backpack so it’s super dirty but the zippers and pulls work as well as the day we took the backpack out of the box. This year she’s asked for a bigger backpack so I was glad to have the chance to compare the sizes up close.
Of course I couldn’t go to New York without eating some good food. Amiyrah of 4 Hats and Frugal was one of my roommates and the baby in her belly wanted pie. Who am I to argue? We went to Pie Face, which I’ve walked past so many times, but never eaten there. The mini pies are perfect for a late night snack.
Oh, how I love New York. Wonder when my next trip there will be?
