Thanksgiving: What My Kids Are Thankful For

This post is sponsored by Campbell Soup Co. All opinions are my own.

Thanksgiving Turkey

Sometimes I get so caught up with planning our dinner menu, that it’s easy to forget that Thanksgiving is about gratitude. At school, Sophia has been studying the Pilgrims and our country’s first Thanksgiving. Jaxson is learning about turkeys and Thanksgiving at his preschool too.

I took this opportunity to ask both kids what they were grateful for.

Thankful for Pixie cat

She’s annoyed I woke her up with my camera phone.

Without a beat, Sophia declared “I’m thankful for Pixie.” It’s hard to believe that we adopted Pixie just 4 months ago. She’s become a huge part of our family. I’m thankful for Pixie too. The kids are learning to care for another creature. They feed her. They play with her. They love her unconditionally. It’s a beautiful thing.

Jaxson Thankful for Mommy Thanksgiving

He’s very proud of the turkey centerpiece he made at preschool.

When it was Jaxson’s turn to share what he was thankful for, he almost repeated what his big sister proclaimed. Instead his thought about it and said, “I love you, Mommy.” That’s good enough for me!

As for me and my husband, we’re thankful for our family and grateful that we can provide for each other. Yeah, yeah, it’s not exciting but it’s true.

I’m also thankful for the opportunity to release my inner foodie and cook some delicious food for friends and family! We’re making our usual stuffing, mashed potatoes and my tangy kale salad. The kids aren’t fans of stuffing or kale salad, so I asked The Wisest Kid for kid friendly Thanksgiving  recipes. I think the kids will love the Cheesy Chile Corn Casserole made with Campbell’s® Condensed Cheddar Cheese Soup, but the Mini Green Bean Casseroles are super cute!

No matter what we serve for Thanksgiving, my favorite part is hanging out with our family and friends.

What are you grateful for this month?
