Pokemon Birthday Party, Here I Come

 Pokemon Party supplies

This weekend is the kids’ joint birthday party. A Pokemon themed birthday party. To say my kids are obsessed with Pokemon is an understatement. Sophia is glued to her Pokemon X game on the weekends (thanks Nintendo for the gift!). Jaxson even pretends he’s a Pikachu.
Last year we skipped throwing a birthday (with friends and classmates) because we saved the money to fly to Florida for our Carnival Cruise. This year I have no excuse. (Unless someone wants to send our family somewhere cool.)

If it were 2 years ago, I would have made the cupcakes and designed cool party favors. This year I bought most of the Pokemon decorations and party favors from Birthday in a Box. They also have a Pokemon Birthday Party Kit. It’s not cheating. I don’t even feel guilty. It’s like I’ve abandoned crafting. I barely miss it. The closest I’m coming to making something for the party is printing out these cool Pokemon party printables.  And getting a picture of Pikachu blown up so we can play pin the tail on the Pikachu. Ok, maybe I’ll cut out some lightning bolt shaped tails late Saturday night while hubby stuffs the goody bags.

Pikachu is Jaxson’s favorite Pokemon

It’s silly that I’m even worried that I didn’t put enough creative effort into the birthday party. I think most folks buy all the party goods anyway. I made the mistake of searching the internet for Pokemon party game ideas. The I made a Pokemon board on Pinterest, except it’s no as obsessive as the other boards I found. Let’s just say that I don’t have that much time on my hands. And I like the 3-4 hours of sleep I get each night.

I’m not really upset or feel guilty that I didn’t make anything for their party. I’m excited to be able to give the kids a birthday party with their friends. Most of our birthday celebrations are usually with family. They are going to have so much fun. It won’t matter to them that I didn’t make the decorations or paint little disco balls into poke ball necklaces (yes, someone did it and power to her). All they want to do is play with their friends and eat a ton of junk food.

My kids’ birthday party is about them and not me. That’s the way it should be.

Do you like planning your children’s birthday parties?
