Holiday Mom Mixer Recap

Mom Mixer Thien-Kim Elmo

When I took the kids to Philly a few weekends ago, we also attended the Holiday Mom Mixer event. While there, I learned about some hot new toys for the holiday season plus some new, fun products! I’m going to share some of the highlights with you.

Mom Mixer Elmo Kids

Elmo was there, so of course we had to take photos. The folks at Sesame Place were on hand to tell us more about the new Cookie’s Monster Land, which opens in May 2014. Cookie Monster is Sophia’s favorite Sesame Street character. We visited Sesame Place a couple of summers ago and had a blast.

Mom Mixer Sophia Furby Boom

Hasbro and Playskool had a plethora of this season’s hottest toys for us to play with. This was by far the kids’ favorite booth at Mom Mixer. I had to drag them away when our time at Mom Mixer was up. They absolutely loved the Furby Boom. It’s a new generation of Furby that connects to your smartphone or tablet for extended plan on the free app.  Using the app, kids can feed it, give it check-ups, bathe it, and send it to the toilet. We received a Furby Boom in our gift bag and the kids played with it for hours. Another favorite at the Hasbro booth was the Playskool Heroes Transformers Rescue Bots Beam Box Game System. It plugs and plays right into your television.  It was very popular with the other kids at Mom Mixer too.

Mom Mixer Vaseline Rosy Lips Crystals

Aren’t those blinged out Vaseline Lip Therapy in Rosy Lips  awesome? Those are special edition teeny jars of Vaseline Lip Therapy (you can buy them by calling  New Beauty at Fred Segal at 310-394-8509 to order). The regular version works just as well to keep your lips moisturized, especially with winter on the way. I keep mine in the car.  What I’m most excited about is the new Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturizer. It comes in 3 different versions and perfect for us busy moms. Heck, I could use it on Jaxson. He squirms so much it’s quite a challenge to put lotion on him. With the Spray and Go, I can just spray it on him and rub it in. It’s not greasy at all. (Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturizer is currently BOGO 50% off on Amazon.)

Mom Mixer Jaxson Doc McStuffins

The folks at Just Play were also a favorite spot for the kids. Both of them like watching Doc McStuffins and had fun playing doctor, even when we got home from Philly. I wish Doc McStuffins was around when Sophia was younger. The preschool show is one of the few shows to feature a multicultural female character that isn’t based on her culture. (Nothing wrong with Kai-Lan or Dora, but it’s good to just be, right?) A girl who wants to be a doctor? Perfect! Plus playing doctor is a fun and educational for kids.

There were more brands at Mom Mixer that I enjoyed chatting with, like Advil. Their info about fevers came in handy this weekend, when Sophia caught some sort of stomach bug. Thank goodness Advil lasts 6-8 hours so I don’t have to cajole Sophia into taking medicines more often than I have to.

What new products are you looking forward to this holiday?
