5 Reasons MultiPassionate People Rock!

5 Reasons Multipassionate People Rock

I’m a multipassionate person, but I wasn’t always proud of that fact.

For many years, I kept trying to figure out what I was supposed to do with my life. I was a few years out of college when I realized that I didn’t want to be a costume designer. After studying it for years and working in various jobs in the different theatres, I felt lost.  Sound familiar? Now there’s a name for this identity crisis: “quarter-life crisis.”  As in a mid-life crisis except in your mid-twenties. I called it Crap, what now? crisis.

During my freak out period I mostly went with the flow and took jobs as I could find them. Sometimes I enjoyed my job, other times I would come home and cry because I hated my job so much. I took plenty of online personality tests, career tests, even an online Briggs-Myers test to figure out my one passion. Nothing jumped out at me.

I felt lost. Until I learned to embrace the fact that I am a #multipassionate person. I have many different interests and to only pick one to focus on is like asking the old lady who lived in a shoe to pick her favorite child. I love reading and telling others about books I enjoyed. Now I can do that on a bigger scale with From Left to Write. On this site, I’ve combined my passions for crafting, cooking and tech all in one place.

Are you someone with multiple passions? Here’s why you should embrace your multipassionate self:

1.We are creative. Multipassionate folks constantly come up with new ideas and projects. Sometimes they have trouble sleeping at night because their brain will not stop churning out new inventions, ideas, recipes, and business ventures. Heck, I was driving alone in my car yesterday (a miracle in itself), and my brain just blew up with amazing ideas! If only I could write and drive safely at the same time.

 2. We are big thinkers. Multipassionate people have BIG ideas. They don’t want to just make something. They want to take the world by storm. Every week. Maybe every day. My husband is used to hearing next big idea. I am glad he listens and supports me. I know I can’t do it all but I’m writing down all of my ideas!

3. We love to learn new things. You probably don’t want to play Trivial Pursuit with a multipassionate person. Because they love learning, they know a little bit about everything . It’s not necessarily about the finished product but the journey itself as they learn a new skill or take on a new hobby.  If you peeked in my craft supply closet you can probably find supplies for any paper, sewing or beaded craft.

4. Our enthusiasm is contagious. When a multipassionate person wants to do something, they are in it 100%. Their glow and energy makes you jealous. You want in on the fun too! I personally love listening to my multipassionate friends’ ideas for this very reason. It’s easy to get bogged down with day to day duties that we lose excitement for what we do. Why not surround yourself around that energy?

5. We are not afraid to leap. It’s not easy coming up with big ideas every day. Your multipassionate friends believe in their ideas and believe in its potential. Starting a new business or jumping into a new hobby or taking that acting class might be scary for most people, but not for multipassionate folks! They know what they want and they’re going to get it!

I’m hoping to make this #multipassionate topic a regular series on the blog.  Next I’ll share how I focus my multiple passions so I’m not overwhelmed. I’d love to know your thoughts on this!

Does this sound like you or someone you know? What are your different passions?
