Work Off the Leftovers With Just Dance 4 (Review)

Thank you to Ubisoft for sponsoring this post. Please click here to learn more about Ubisoft. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. #UbiChamps

Ever since our family was introduced to the Ubisoft’s Just Dance games, it’s become a family tradition to play after our Thanksgiving meal. This year we’ll be shaking our cute booty (booties? bootys?) to the all new Just Dance 4!

Instead of giving into to the turkey, stuffing, and pie food coma, we fire up our Wii. I know you feel like putting on your fat pants after dinner and taking a nap, but after a few dance moves, you’ll feel energized. At least that’s how I feel. Jaxson and Sophia beg to play and once I hear the beat, I can’t help but dance with them.

Here we attempt to dance to “Call Me Maybe”

The fourth installment of Just Dance is more streamlined and user friendly than its previous versions (if that’s even possible). We found the playlists easier to navigate. As you dance to the songs, you earn “mojo,” which is based on your score. Earning mojo allows you to unlock special features of different songs, such as double mojo and extra difficult versions of the song.

Jaxson’s favorite part of Just Dance 4 is the Battle Mode, which he calls “versus.” You and your opponent (a person or the game) have a dance off alternating between two songs. The better you dance your song, the more “hits” your opponents receive. The person with the least amount of hits wins the battle. It’s a nice change of pace from just dancing straight through since you get a mash up of two songs.

My kids have begged to play Just Dance 4 every weekend (we have no video games rule during the week). They get so excited when they hear the same songs on the radio. Thanks to Just Dance 4, my kids love Pink’s “So What” and Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger.” Which is a pleasant break from Barney and The Wiggles.

Today, after we stuff ourselves (and maybe take a short nap), we plan on dancing our hearts out. And eating leftovers afterwards. I can think of no better way to spend time with my family and burn some calories. After all, we made two pies for Thanksgiving.

I just learned that you can now download Gangnam Style for Just Dance 4! (You’ll need to purchase Wii points in order to download it. It isn’t included in the game.) As soon as I pick up some Wii points, we’re adding Psy to our dance routine! Our entire family is a little obssesed with Gangnam Style.

How do you fight off the tryptophan snooze after Thanksgiving dinner?
