Somehow I never got around to buying a bathing suit this summer. Now it’s November and I’m scrambling to find one. Two would have been nice but I’m not being picky. I found two bathing suit tops on the clearance racks at my local Target. But no bottoms. You think there would have been at least a few bottoms available considering there were still about 10 tops hanging on the rack. Usually I can count on the plus size clearance rack to have at least one or two items in my size.
I know I should have picked one up during the end of summer sales. I figured I could just try again next year, since only don a bathing suit a handful of times a year. Why would I need a bathing suit in November? No, I didn’t sign up for swim lessons (though I should) or join a water zumba class.
I’m going on a cruise! Carnival invited our family on a press trip to check out their new ship, the Carnival Breeze. We’ve never been on an extended family vacation before and we’re going to have a blast. Everyone is excited to head to warmer weather and sandy, blue beaches. Hubby and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon but that was 10 years ago.

We’re visiting a bunch of islands in the Caribbean. The kids have never been out of the country. It’s going to be an amazing cultural experience for them. Plus Carnival offers kids camps (included in the cost of your cruise) so I hope to have some one on one time with my darling husband. Plus some poolside time to catch up on my reading.
Last year, I drew and painted the drawing in my 2012 Creating My Goddess Year workbook (2013 version coming out soon!). I dreamed of celebrating my birthday with my family on a beach somewhere. Preferably, I’d have a cocktail in hand. Though my birthday was last month, you bet we will raise a toast to my birthday on a beach in the Caribbean!
When I manifested my vision for a beach celebration, part of me didn’t think it was possible. A cruise was not in our family budget. At best I dreamed of a few hours drive to a nearby beach. I didn’t even consider the possibility that my blogging and social media work would give me this kind of opportunity. It’s not that this press trip fell in my lap. It’s the culmination of years of social media work and establishing relationships with companies.
So here I am scrambling to get passports of me and the kids. To find the summer clothes that I haven’t donated. To get our little ducks in a row for our trip.
I am so grateful.
So I ended up buying the cutest Land’s End swimdress–on clearance, whew!
Carnival will be hosting my family on the cruise, though we are paying for part of the expenses. I was not obligated to write about the cruise. The Goddess Guidebook link is an affiliate link-the 2013 version will be available soon and I highly recommend it. Thanks for all of your support!
