I started 2012 by choosing a word for the year. Besides choosing the word ASK as my intention for this year, I have other resolutions for this year. I’d rather call them goals than resolutions. During the last week of 2011, I still had no idea what I wanted from this year. With the help of 2012 Creating My Goddess Year workbook , I was able to figure out what I wanted to accomplish this year.
As usual, my Asian overachiever self wants to accomplish LOTS in 2012. Here’s what I have on tap (so far):
Health & Fitness
I am improving my healthy by giving up half and half in my coffee (ACK!) and to be more active. My fancy pedometer Striiv is keeping me motivated and accountable. Though I do allow myself slacker days. I don’t want to be so hard on myself that I’ll give up. My toddler is addicted to Just Dance 3 and Just Dance Kids 2. Everyday he asks to play. Usually I turn him down because he has a meltdown when we turn it off. Last week, I gave in and got a pretty good work out. And it’s fun.
Creativity
I used to feel guilty for not finding as much time to express my crafty side as much as I used to. I’ve come to realize that creativity goes in cycles. There will be times when I have so many ideas, I don’t know where to start. Other times, I’m too exhausted to even think about drawing or crafty. This year I joined the Creative Everyday challenge. I didn’t succeed the first time I attempted the challenge, but I’m keeping it simple this year with my 5 minute ink and watercolor sketches. I know I’ll squeeze in more substantial projects during the year. I also want to visit more museums. DC has so many museums, most are free even, and I hardly take advantage of them.
Family
Now that Jaxson is two years old, I think it’s time for more dates with hubby. I don’t just mean movie nights on the couch. I want real dates out. Nothing fancy. Dinners, cocktails, or just coffee. A bit of time to talk to each other without being interrupted by our talkative but smart children.
