5 More Android Apps That Will Suck Your Time (In A Good Way)

J on Paper Camera

I recently upgraded to a nicer Android phone. It’s got a huge screen and is super fast. My previous one couldn’t run Angry Birds-very sad I know. We still like Angry Birds in our home, but I’ve discovered a few new to us apps that we love. Beware before you download them, you won’t be able to put your phone down.

I’m always looking for a good word game for my Android phone and hubby told me about this app. As much as I like Words with Friends, I’m a bit impatient when it comes to waiting for my friends to make their move. ‘ concept is deceptively simple. Each level has several crossword-like clues that tells you how many letters are in the answer. Below the clues are tiles with 2-3 letters on each. You pick the tiles in the correct order to spell out the answers to the clues (Free for first 50 levels, 99cent for each set of 50 after).

Paper Camera is an app that offers artsy filters for your phone. It was easy to use and I really love the different filters. My new phone has an 8 megapixel camera so I can see myself using it a lot more than the camera on my previous phone.  The photo above is the Sketch Up filter. Paper Camera is $1.99 but I got it for free on Amazon when it was the app of the day.
is a simple but addictive fishing game. Sophia and I have been fastidiously catching all sorts of water creatures. Some are based off real fish while most are completely made up. After you catch your fish, they live in a tank where you can feed them. The tanks are rather small, so you can only keep a limited number of fish there. Sophia loves earning achievements for catching rare creatures, x number of common creatures, etc. You’ll have to earn coins and pearls to buy upgrades such as better rods and nicer bait for a better chance of catching rare creatures. (Free unless you decided to purchase more coins and pearls).
. Who doesn’t love a grabby game? Remember Toy Story where the aliens revered the claw? The game has missions, so you’re not just aimlessly grabbing prizes. There are different category of prizes so when you complete the set you can earn bonus boosts. The best part, no matter how bad your aim is, you always grab an item. Free.
Pop Pop Popcorn looks so simple on first try but I have burned more than my share of popcorn. You hold down on each kernel to heat it up, but watch out! The kernels around it are also heated up. It’s a logic puzzle that’s fun and challenging at the same time. Free
