Like many busy moms, I’m overdue for a girls night in. This weekend I’m having some girlfriends over to hang out, eat, and laugh while we watch Bridesmaids starring Kristen Wiig. The fun part is that we’re getting a special peek because the DVD isn’t available until September 20.
When I first planned the party, I wanted to cook some really good food for my guests. Maybe make a pasta dish, serve fresh salad and a fancy cheese platter.
I’m taking a step back. Wednesday night I had a sore throat. I blamed it on my allergies, but guess what? A cold! Thursday I spent most of the day in bed. I felt good enough in the evening to attend Sophia’s back to school night. After an hour I was worn out!
Being sick made me realize that I have done a terrible job taking care of myself. I stay up late working and on a good night I get 4-5 hours of sleep. I practically live on coffee. I keep telling myself the dishes can wait. But then they pile up. We run out of forks. I’m not complaining or asking for a pity party. It’s just how my overachiever brain thinks.
Getting sick is my body’s way of telling me I need to slow down and get more rest.
So, if you’re coming to my girls night this weekend, I apologize for the lack of fancy food. I’m keeping it easy with a cheese platter, veggies, and popcorn. Plus lots of good beverages of course.
It’s the company that matters. I’ve never ever been a bridesmaid, so I’m looking forward to hearing stories from my guests.
I’m ready to watch a hilarious movie and laugh my booty off. If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a the trailer.
Did you see the movie in the theatres? What did you think of it?
I was provided with a giftcard, party supplies, and the Bridesmaids dvd to host the party. All opinions are my own.
