When my dear friend C.Mom invited me to participate in her Things I Like About Me meme, I wasn’t sure I wanted to participate. First of all, I’m not a fan of memes. Second, it seems a bit self-congradulatory to write a post listing all the great things about myself.
But that’s not what this meme is about. It’s about loving who you are and accepting that you’re not perfect. Goodness knows I try to be superwoman every day! As women, we’ve been taught as young girls not to boast about our skills and accomplishments. Girls are supposed to be humble.
Well, there’s nothing wrong with being proud of yourself.
So, here are things I like about me:
- I’m creative. I love making things especially for others. I love sewing clothes for myself but I enjoy seeing Sophia’s face as she tries on a dress I made for her.
- I’m a damned good couponer. I’m not the ladies on TLC’s Extreme Couponers but I’m pretty proud of the deals I’ve gotten.
- I like talking about sex. Which explains why I’m a Passion Parties consultant. My parents never talked about relationships and sex. All of my sexual education came from Judy Blume, Cosmo magazine, and romance novels. Thank goodness I picked up some more educational stuff later.
- I’m a book hoarder. Yes, it can become a problem sometimes, but I love the smell of a new book. The promise of a new reality in each book draws me to it.
- I like food. I enjoy discovering new foods and coming up with new recipes. Thank goodness hubby enjoys almost everything I cook.
- I’m good at networking. I actually enjoy talking to strangers and getting them to talk about themselves. People are so fascinating. This didn’t come naturally to me. Thanks to Passion Parties, I’ve gotten much better at it.
- I’m good with technology. I never thought of myself at tech savvy until I joined Twitter and took blogging more seriously.
- I have a good memory. Ok, not as good as before I had kids, but it’s still decent.
- I’d rather cook than do the dishes. Guess what is more fun?
- I’m pretty smart darn it! Not just book smart and scoring a high score on my ACTs, but I’m a problem solver. I’m a creative thinking.
Whew! That was much harder to write than I thought.
