I’m a lurker. It’s terrible I know. I know better.
I love receiving comments on my blogs. I try really hard to reply to most of them. That’s easy right now because I don’t receive a ton of comments.
I know I should return the love and comment on my friends’ blogs. I subscribe to their blogs in my Google Reader so I can keep up with them. The posts where I feel like I have a meaningful comment to contribute I keep as unread, hoping I’ll return to click through and comment.
Yet it doesn’t happen. As of writing this, I have over 300 unread posts in my reader. By the time this post is published, I’m sure it will be even higher. I’ve been known to click “mark all as read” for some of the blogs (it’s not yours, I promise!).
Lately, it seems hard to keep my head above the bloggy waters. Just keeping up with my blog, my freelance writing gigs, and Passion Parties keeps me busy. Not to mention the kids and housework.
I keep reading that leaving consistent, thoughtful comments on others’ blogs will help you get to know others and help build community (and traffic). I tweet with people. A lot. Does that count?
Do you have a commenting resolution or goal? You know, like comment on 5 friends’ blogs everyday? How long does that take you?
Should I create a commenting game plan?
Or should I just join some sort of 12-step program?
