Win Tickets To Cirque Dreams Holidaze at Kennedy Center

Congrats to Stephanie who won the tickets! You should have received an email from me. Thank you everyone who entered!

Now that Thanksgiving is over and most of the leftovers have been eaten or frozen, it’s time for Christmas!

Ok, confession, I’ve been listening to the all Christmas music radio station since the week before Thanksgiving.

Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I know some people say it’s too commercial, but this holiday makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I love surprising people with gifts, decorating our home, making gingerbread houses, and baking lots of yummy treats. All while spending time with family and friends.

Currently our holiday traditions don’t involve seeing any live productions since Sophia really wasn’t old enough. Now she’s 5 and ready to conquer the world. I want to create a new tradition of seeing a live holiday production every year. Baby J can come along for the ride until he’s old enough.

This year, our family will be attending Cirque Dreams Holidaze at the Kennedy Center. Here’s some more info about the show:

An original musical extravaganza of ornaments that come to life when costumed characters perform astonishing feats that celebrate the holiday season with spectacle, imagination and whimsical dreams. An international cast of 30 artists transform into gingerbread men flipping mid air, toy soldiers marching on thin wires, snowmen daringly balancing, icemen powerfully sculpting, penguins spinning, puppets caroling and reindeer soaring high above a landscape of holiday wonderment.  Some holiday favorites accompany an original musical score with hundreds of spectacular costumes adorning a magical tree of dreams in a setting of gigantic gifts, colossal candy canes and 30-foot tall towering toy soldiers.

Sounds fun, right? I’ve only seen a couple of shows at the Kennedy Center, but I love the space. I’m awestruck by the columns and high ceilings. I’m looking forward to returning there.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze runs December 7-12, 2010. Tickets start at $31. Purchase tickets online or call the box office at (202) 467-4600. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
