Mom Confessional Wednesday

I’m a night owl. I always was as a teenager, and even more so during college. I loved those all night work calls at our theatre department. We worked all night sewing costumes, getting delirious from inhaling spray adhesive fumes, and talking sex. It was a blast!

As a mom, I enjoy staying up late even more. It’s my time of absolute quiet. Everyone is asleep. I can tweet, answer emails, blog, and play games late into the night. It’s my me time. Sometimes I’ll even do a bit of sewing or crafting while I listen to podcasts.

Staying up late does have its pitfalls. Especially when my Sophia wakes up at 6:30AM. Add to the fact Jaxson has at least 2 night feedings. When she wakes up, she is WIDE AWAKE. As in talking loud, jumping around, and proclaiming over and over, “I’m huuuuuunnnnngreeeee!” (Hey kid, that’s what the fruit bowl is for. Help yourself!)

So what do I do when I’ve been playing around until 3 in the morning? I convince her to come snuggle next to me in bed. Sometimes she falls asleep or lays there quietly for another 15 minutes or so while I sleep. Nowadays, she’s totally on to me. So I just bribe her.

“Want to cuddle in bed while you watch some tv?” Works like a charm. I’ve even gotten her trained to grab a piece of fruit for breakfast or some string cheese from the fridge.

If I’m lucky, I get at least another hour of sleep. Until the baby wakes up.

It’s your turn. Come over and confess. We won’t judge. Some of us are probably guilty of it ourselves. I promise not to make you recite Hail Marys or Our Fathers.

Feel free to blog your confession and link here.
