I’m Speaking at #BlogHer15!

VOTY Keynote Readers at BlogHer14

Me with some of this year’s VOTY Keynote reader: (L to R) August McLaughlin, me, Phyllis Myung, Tammy Soong, Ashley Garrett, Kristen Vanderhay Shaw

I’m all packed and ready for New York City! Tomorrow I hop on the train and head to one of my favorite blogging conferences, BlogHer.

The conference is huge and draws such a diverse crowd of women bloggers. While I’m mostly an introvert, I definitely stretch outside my comfort zone to meet new bloggers and spend time with friends who I only get to see online. Plus I get to catch up with some friends who live in NYC!

I'm Speaking at #BlogHer15: Experts Among Us

I’m also speaking on a panel of some pretty awesome ladies. Our session is Online Life & Culture: When You’re “Too Much” for Your Audience, Be It Your Profanity, Politics, or…. We’re going to have a great conversation. If you’re attending BlogHer, I hope you’ll come to our session on Saturday, July 18 at 10:30am.

In the meantime, get to know my fellow panelists:

Another big deal (though I haven’t made a big deal about it) is that I’m a BlogHer Voices of the Year Honoree! Each year, the BlogHer community honors outstanding work from their blogging community.

My post The Real Reason the Stranger Was Staring at Our Interracial Family was chosen for the VOTY Blog Post category. It truly feels amazing that my peers chose my work. Some days I still have a tough time thinking of myself as a writer, but moments like this inspire me to keep writing. Make sure you take a look at all the honorees!

That is what’s going on in my world. Want to see updates of my shenanigans during BlogHer? Follow me on Twitter and Instagram staring tomorrow evening.
