One thing I love about going to blogging conferences is the in person interaction. Sure, Twitter is great, but nothing beats talking face to face. The only bad thing about attending blogging conferences, is that I keep adding more blogs to my Google reader. The worst (or good) part is that I’m adding book bloggers to my reader. Which means that I going to read about books that I should read. Because I have time for that. Not.
Attending Book Blogger Con made me feel a bit out of my element. Most faces were new to me, but I dug in and sat next to strangers and introduced myself. I met some pretty awesome bloggers. So here are some bloggers you should add to your blog reader because they are so fun in person:

My hastily taken picture of Pam with Jane Lynch. Ms. Lynch’s handlers were getting a bit feisty. |
- Pam from MotherReader. We met standing in line to meet Jane Lynch and get her autograph. I discovered Pam lives in my neck of the woods and is a kidlit book reviewer. They even have a conference just for people who review kids books! She also offered to take a picture of me and Jane Lynch as Jane signed my card. Gotta love someone who offers to take a picture of your butt. She’s also hosting a 48 Hour Book Challenge, to see how many hours you can read in 48 hours.
- Joy of Joy’s Book Blog and Yesha. I plunked myself right next to these ladies at a happy hour social at Atria, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. I couldn’t have picked a better table to sit at. Yesha is a librarian from Brooklyn while Joy is from the Midwest. We had a great conversation about multicultural books for children.
- Alison from Alison’s Book Marks, Meg from WriteMeg, and Genna. We bonded over the author speed dating session. Let me tell you, author speed dating is NOT for the weak hearted. Luckily all three of these ladies were classy whether we were being pitched a book about the afterlife or a lusty urban fantasy novel (that I finished in 2 days).
Of course many more book bloggers than the ones I’ve mentioned here. I’m even thinking about joining the 48 Hour Book Challenge.
