Benefits of Getting Rear Ended By Another Car

Yes, you read that correctly. Yesterday morning, before I even made it out of my neighborhood, another car rear ended my car while I was stopped at a stop sign. It’s been a few years since I was last involved in a car accident, but I’m sure my reaction was the same. Surprise, shock, worry, and anger.

Except the last time I was rear ended, I didn’t have kids.  My kids were in the car, and thankfully they barely felt the impact (yay for car seats!). I got all mama bear with the guy who hit me since the first thing he said as he got out of his car was, “Did something happen?”

As you can probably guess, he wasn’t very cooperative. Even though there wasn’t any physical damage to my car (thank goodness), I had no idea what kind of body aches and sore might show up in the morning for all of us. He wouldn’t give me any of his insurance info so I had to call the police. Even then, the other driver wasn’t very cooperative. Thankfully, the officer obtained the information and let me go. The other driver was not so lucky.

After the excitement, I finally made it to my friend’s home and dropped Sophia off for her play date. Ok, I might have stayed at my friend’s for an hour because I wasn’t ready to get back into the car.

The entire incident-the accident and dealing with the uncooperative driver-left me worn out. Mentally and physically. My neck was a bit sore from the accident (nothing some over the counter pain meds can’t fix), but my body was soooo tired. I hung on and stayed awake until hubby got home from work. I’m glad it was a day he wasn’t working late.

Once hubby got home and sat down to dinner with the kids, I passed out on the couch. Slept really hard. Hubby woke me up to lay down with Jaxson for bed. Then I played musical beds and fell asleep on our other couch. Eventually I made it to my bed.

I got over 10 hours of sleep. Pretty much unheard of for me. I woke up well rested, though behind on my work since I usually work at night.

10 hours. If only I could sleep like that every night.
