rI am so happy it’s Friday! This week has felt incredibly long thanks to my old body dealing with jetlag due to traveling to BlogHer. I’m looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.
Before you dive into your weekend activities, here’s some fun things to consider for your weekend (or next):
Guardians of the Galaxy. I went into the press preview with plenty of skepticism, but the movie won me over. Even if you know very little about Marvel Comics or Peter Quill (like me), you’ll enjoy it. It’s a perfect summer movie. Guardians of the Galaxy is funny and action packed. Plus it doesn’t take itself very seriously–which makes for some great lines. It opens today, so grab some friends to help you eat that big tub of popcorn. The film is rated PG-13. There’s a lot of violence, sexual innuendo and adult language so keep the little ones at home.
Cirque de Soleil: Amaluna is currently in the National Harbor. I haven’t seen the show yet, but I had an oppourtunity to chat with Larry Edwards, the head of wardrobe. The costumes are absolutely amazing! The costume designer put a lot of thought in them–everything from eco-friendly materials to hand painted pieces.
Each costume is designed with for the performer’s comfort, durability, and ability to be easily cleaned. Every piece has plenty of details that are added on by via hand sewing. Amaluna runs through September 21st. Tickets start at $35. There’s also a Family 4-Pack offer.
National Geographic Kids Almanac 2015 is now available! We buy Sophia one every year and she devours it! This year as a NatGeo Kids Insider, I received an advanced copy of the 2015. With its glossy pages, high quality photographs NatGeo is known for, and plenty of fun facts, this book is perfect for kids who are curious about the world around us. Good news! NatGeo Kids is offering one as a giveaway to my readers!
