Paint Pens & My UPPTÄCKA Messenger Bag

UPPTÄCKA Messenger Bag

I found this plain white and black UPPTÄCKA messenger bag at IKEA a few weeks ago and couldn’t stop thinking about it. My husband laughs at me when we walk through the DIY furniture superstore because  I constantly say, “Oooh, that looks cool but I would have to paint it.” I mean, white furniture is is just boring. I need color in my life. (I can also hear my friend Jennifer laughing at me too.) I briefly considered getting the hot pink one, but I can do more with white.

My brilliant idea is to get this messenger bag decorated with my Elmer’s Painters Pens (affiliate link) before I leave for Blogalicious. Because I don’t have enough to do already. But look at it! That white bag is a blank canvas, begging for color.  I have to make it my own, you know?

Decorated moleskine journal

I’m thinking I might do something similar to how I decorated my Moleskine sketchook (my favorite kind of sketchbook-affiliate link), except on a bigger scale. I need bigger sized doodles. Or I can go small and intricate. Who am I kidding? I don’t think I have the patience for small and intricate right now.

I might have to ignore the pile of dishes in my sink tomorrow so I can decorate the bag. I’m not sure what I want to do with it yet. I think the key is choosing 2 or 3 colors and sticking with the palette. I might even pull out my puff paint bottles.

Only a craft nerd would get excited about puff paint.

What colors do you think I should use on my white bag? Keep in mind I wear a lot of purple (jewel tone) and reds.
