Switching To Dresses For Fall

This fall I vow to dress nicer.

Every fall I go through this. I have the most boring fall wardrobe. Usually I wear jeans, a t-shirt and a cardigan during the fall and into most of winter. I might throw in a long sleeved t-shirt in the mix but it's usually the same boring uniform.

I hate bulky sweaters, no matter how warm they are. I can't wear turtlenecks or cowls because I feel restricted. Growing up in Louisiana, I was never trained to dress in layers. So when I throw a coat over a sweater, I feel like the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man.

I know I can't make a big dramatic change to my wardrobe. It's not in my budget. However, I'm taking small steps. I bought some new cute shoes. They even have a bit of a wedge so I'm walking taller. Bonus, they're comfy. I wore those brown shoes up there with jeans, a t-shirt, and yes, a cranberry cardigan the other day. However, I got a compliment for my outfit. I guess shoes can make the outfit!

My other goal for the cooler season is to wear more dresses. That means I need to pick up tights and leggings so I can stay warm as the temperature drops. And to avoid shaving my legs all the time. Ha!

My friend Sandie gifted me with this dress from Lands End. It was too big for her and perfect for me. I paired it with some black leggings (hurray for control top) and my new flats. I felt cute and looked purty darn stylish too. Take that mommy clothes! I didn't get a photo of me in the dress because I was too busy chasing Jaxson around that day.

Inspired by how I felt in this dress, I started a Fall Wardrobe Pinterest board. I think it's a real challenge to find cute, casual clothes for plus size gals like me. If you know where to shop/look, let me know! I think I'm going to hit the thrift store next because I love hunting for treasures there!

What's your fall wardrobe like?
