Love Is a Fresh Pot of Coffee in the Morning

Today is our 10 year anniversary. When you count the years we dated, my husband and I have been together over 15 years. Sometimes I'm surprised that we haven't killed each other yet. We've been through a lot together and I believe it's made us a stronger couple.

Recently it feels like we've been ships passing by each other in the night. Our schedules don't always align, but we make it work. We're a good team. He gets up in the morning and gets the kids fed and dressed. Plus he gets himself ready for work. All so I can get an extra half hour of sleep because I work late into the night.

Last week he added something new to his morning repertoire. He's made a fresh pot of coffee for me before he leaves for work. It sounds so simple but that on act means a lot. Counter space is a premium in our apartment. Our two major appliances sitting out are the rice cooker and the toaster oven.

See, we don't own a coffee maker. Instead we brew our coffee with a French press. It takes a lot more time to brew coffee in a French press. Besides adding coffee grounds into the press, he heats a kettle of water on the stove, then has to add the hot water and top off the press with the lid. After it brews for a few minutes it has to be plunged to push the grounds to the bottom of the press.

He started making coffee last week, to help me adjust my schedule for school. I'm the one who will be taking Sophia to the bus stop in the mornings. It's something he didn't have to do for me. But he did.

That's just one of the many reasons why I love him.

A fresh pot of coffee.

Thank you for an amazing 10 years of marriage, my hubby. I look forward to growing old and sleeping in with you. Then we won't need as much coffee anymore.

Have a great weekend everyone!
