Imagination Stage, one of our family's favorite children's theatre, is presenting a show based on my favorite childhood book: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. This production is produced in collaboration with The Washington Ballet. I'm looking forward to seeing how my beloved book will be translated for the stage:
In this fusion of theater, dance, and puppetry, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis, the roles of the four children are played jointly by an actor and a dancer, and the courageous lion Aslan is portrayed by a life‐size puppet operated by three actor/puppeteers, similar to the puppets used in the Broadway production War Horse.
The show is going to be a feast for all of your senses. Don't you want to see it now? Our family hasn't seen it yet (cause we're on vacation!) but we're definitely going to see it when the kids come back from Camp Grandparents. The story has magic, talking creatures, an evil queen, and kids who will save the world. What more is needed?
The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe runs in Imagination Stage’s Annette M. and Theodore N. Lerner Family Theatre June 20 through August 12. Appropriate for ages 5 and up, tickets are $10 to $27, and may be purchased online, at the Imagination Stage box office, or via phone at 301‐280‐1660. Group rates are available.
