This weekend is the US Science & Engineering Festival in DC. Our family attended on a whim last year and since then, I've had 2012 Festival on our calendar for months. That's where Sophia made maggot art last year. Check out the video I made. My only regret last year was that we didn't arrive earlier so we could visit more booths.
This year, we're making a point to visit PBS's Sid the Science Kid booth (#1145). Both Sophia and Jaxson love learning about science through the kid-friendly science songs on Sid the Science Kid show. There will be photo opps with Sid and other PBS Kids characters. My kids hammed it up last year for photos with their favorite characters. On both days of the festival, Saturday April 28 and Sunday April 29, the Sid the Science Kid booth will have fun activities for kids as well as a live Sid the Science Kid Stage Show. The stage show schedule is
- Saturday, April 28th: 10:50am & 12:50pm on the Curie Stage
- Sunday, April 29th: 10:00am & 11:50am on the Curie Stage
Don't forget to check out the new VINCI Early Learning Systems which offers exciting and educational content for children 18 months to 5 years on their new table, VINCI Tab II. You can also enter a drawing for Sid the Science Kid prizes.
I've been browsing the US Science & Engineering Festival schedule and I found out that Mayim Bialik will be speaking! I've been a fan of hers since her days on Blossom. Remember the big hat with a flower on it? I haven't told Sophia yet, but her favorite scientist, Bill Nye the Science Guy will be there too. She's going to flip out over all this science-y goodness!
The US Science & Engineering Festival runs April 28-29. Admission is free and no RSVP is required. The festival is indoors this year at the Washington Convention Center. Which is good because DC weather has been weird lately.
GIVEAWAY: Thanks to NCircle Entertainment, I have a copy of Sid's Backyard Campout DVD http://amzn.to/JszKZxto giveaway to one lucky winner. It's not even available for sale until May 15! Sid, Gerald and Sid's Dad go on a big adventure right in their very own backyard as Dad shares his love of nature with the kids. After watching the DVD, Sophia has requested that we go camping. Soon.
To enter the giveaway, leave a comment who your favorite scientist is (real or fictitious).

I'm a proud member of PBS Kids VIP. Our family is a big PBS Kids fan (and Downton Abbey for me) so I'm happy to keep you updated with the latest PBS Kids news. Our family received a review copy of Sid's Backyard Campout DVD for review. All opinions and gushing over Blossom are entirely my own. Dude, I wanted that hat.
