Mom 2.0 Take Aways: Women Rock!

I'm still recovering from the amazing experience that was Mom 2.0 Summit. Our panel was amazing, I got to meet John Besh, and made some awesome new friends! Of course I ate tons of good food as well. How can I not while I'm in New Orleans.

Our keynote panel was very inspiring. The panel was comprised by a powerhouse of women who work for Youtube, Martha Stewart Living, Harpo, and Babble.

My main take away from the panel:

  • We are totally awesome! Women, wake up!  Don't be afraid to talk about your story and what you do. We undervalue ourselves frequently. When we undervalue ourselves, so do others.
  • We can still be ourselves and mothers at the same time.  As mothers, it's easy to lose our identity in between feedings and diaper changes. Our children will not suffer if we have a life outside of parenting. In fact it makes them better people.
  • It's ok to make a living doing what you love.  That's what most people dream about but never get off their butts to do. So why should we feel guilty about it? We can have the best of both words
There's much more but that's all I have for now. Talk about an empowering conversation.

Speaking of empowering, take a look at this funny, empowering video about the Bronte sisters. It was shown as a closing note for Mom 2.0. Very appropriate after the conversation with the panel.

More recaps soon!

How do you rock as a woman? Tell your story!
