At first glance, training for a 5K doesn’t seem much like pampering, does it? When I signed up to run a 5K, I was really scared. Just typing the email to tell our team leader I wanted to do it was. . .well uncomfortable.
I waffled a bit back and forth.
I didn’t have time to train for a 5K. I’m totally out of shape. I don’t even own any sneakers! (That’s my Inner Mean Girl talking)
But I wanted to be healthier. Get into shape, maybe shed a few pounds. Live a longer life.
The idea of training and running a 5K made me so scared and uncomfortable that I decided that’s exactly why I need to do it. I needed to step outside my comfort zone.
I guess training for this 5K-heck, even the decision to run it-is a kind of pampering.
Pampering means putting myself first every now and again.Whether it’s a hot bubble bath, that iced mocha or getting into shape.
Yes, I’m weird. That’s what makes me special.
