As a Passion Parties consultant, I've attended a lot of conferences, conventions, or mini-conferences-whatever you want to call them. Though the Yahoo! Mother Board Summit was only one day, it was one of the best conferences I've attended!
Jeanne and Amy of Yahoo! took such good care of us. When they called it "The Mother of All Conferences" they set the bar high! All of us were pampered from the very start. We stayed at Four Seasons in Palo Alto. That bed is amazing, but I'm going to miss that big tub. My daughter was totally jealous that I could watch tv while soaking in the tub.
Our agenda was packed with great sessions from Yahoo! Green, Yahoo! Shine, Flickr, Yahoo! for Good, Yahoo! Social Products and a very important online safety roundtable. Yes, all the speakers worked for Yahoo! but they weren't pushing their products. They shared tips and tools that will make it easier for us to share on various social media platforms.I took furious notes from Chris Barr and Julie Wildhaber, the editors of The Yahoo! Style Guide: The Ultimate Sourcebook for Writing, Editing, and Creating Content for the Digital World. They gave us a quick but easy to understand tips on writing headlines and using keywords for search engine optimization (SEO). Thankfully we all received a copy of the book because they had so much more information to share but ran out of time. Plus, I wasn't typing fast enough so didn't get all the notes.
Every time we had a break, we were fed with yummy treats. From a great breakfast, to lunch, to cupcakes and espressos, I never went hungry. When I'm home, I rarely get to eat breakfast before noon since I'm so busy with the kids. Eating three meals a day is a luxury.
We live tweeted the summit under the hashstag #ymotherboard. Check it out for some great tips. Thanks Yahoo! for hosting. Now to figure out what qualifications hubby has so he can get a job there. I'm missing the beautiful weather in Palo Alto!
As a Yahoo MotherBoard member, Yahoo covered all of my expenses to come to the Summit. I am not required me to blog or tweet about any of the events associated with the conference but when I do, all opinions are my own.
