Body Scrubs and Podcasts

I was taking a soak in the tub last night when I realized that I have two jars of body scrubs next to me. Then I remembered the bubble baths, bath salts, and bath milks under the sink. I guess it's time to admit it. I love long hot soaks in the tub with things that smell good. Right now I can choose if I want to smell like a jolly rancher apple or coffee.

That could be my singles ad: Married Female looking for long steamy soaks in tub with delicious smelling salts and scrubs. Must be able to exfoliate and contain moisturizing oils. Fruity scents or lavender a bonus.

Wonder what kind of weirdos I'd get?

Long hot baths are my escape. It's my me time. I listen to podcasts and catch up on my magazines. Sometimes I even sketch in my journal or just write stream of consciousness. I know I shouldn't multi-task while I'm trying to relax. Usually I attempt to listen to my favorite podcasts or an audiobook while I'm working at the computer but for some reason I can't always follow along.

Some of my favorite podcasts are:
  • The Splendid Table An NPR show about cooking and food. Lynn's voice is very soothing and non-judgemental. There's a fun "gameshow" element where a caller names 5 things he/she actually has in her kitchen and Lynn has to "cook" a dish that the caller might actually eat.
  • Notes From the Voodoo Lounge Rice interviews different artists from all genres/media. She asks different questions than you might typically hear/read in other interviews.
  • Craftypod Sister Diane interviews artists not just on their work but the concept of free or sharing your artistic ideas and technique with the online community. She also has great podcasts about selling your art or taking your blog to the next level.
It's sad. I realize that I don't listen to a lot of music. I mainly listen to NPR when I'm in the car sans Sophia. Thankfully Jaxson can't voice his opinion on what's playing on the radio. . .yet. At home I listen to podcasts. But they make me happy. I'm always learning something new, and I can listen to them whenever it's convenient for me.

What about you? How do you pamper yourself? Retail therapy? Starbucks?
